About Andrea

God is good!  I was born in Michigan City, Indiana April 26, 1984.  I grew up in a wonderful Christian home, with godly parents.  Praise the Lord!  I had two siblings: Sharon, who is two years younger than myself, and Jim, who is three years younger.  Then, at age seven, a fourth person was born into our family which would change each of us forever!  Lindsey Leslie has Downe’s Syndrome, and is one of the greatest blessings of my life!  And to think the Doctor strongly advised my parents to have an abortion!  I guess God had other Plans!
Well, I accepted Christ as my Savior at age thirteen.  And I was privileged to grow up at Fairhaven Baptist Church, and to enjoy the youth group there as a young person.  My mother became the Ladies’ Dorm supervisor for Fairhaven Baptist College when I was young, so I grew up in an apartment in the Girls’ Dorm –lots of sisters!  However, I count it a privilege to have parents in full-time Christian service, and beyond that, the opportunity to grow up on the very church campus!
I graduated from high school and enrolled in Fairhaven Baptist College to study education with majors in English and Spanish.  This would make a strong impact upon my life as I began to study Spanish, and develop a love for world peoples and languages, particularly the Latin people.  I graduated from college and decided to stay an additional year to study some linguistics.  I loved those classes!  Then, an opportunity presented itself of accepting a teaching position in Aguascalientes, central Mexico, under Fundamental Baptist World-Wide Mission.  It was like a dream to me!  After seeking the Lord about this, I decided, in conjuction with  my parents and others involved, to go.  So, I spent one of the most memorable times in my life there in Aguascalientes, AGS.  I especially loved working with native children and people in the Baptist Church there!
During the same time, while in Mexico, my Mother was diagnosed with cancer.  She went through numerous rounds of chemotherapy, and by the time I returned home in the summer of 2008, she seemed to be doing well.  However, when she went for her checkup, the cancer was back strong.  She was given about a year or so to live, and that year would become a very precious time for us.  She struggled of course, but she also had peace from God, and a boldness I have not often seen to share the Gospel.  How many times do I remember her looking at the cashier in the grocery store, saying, “The Doctor gave me a year to live, so this is important to me…”as she handed them a Gospel Tract.  She knew it was alright since she had Christ as her Savior…she knew she would go to Heaven!  And she did, on March 13, 2009, and through that time, I saw firsthand that God, as our Heavenly Father, ’doeth all things well’ and that truly “His Way is Perfect.”  How do I explain the way God worked out EVERYTHING so perfectly?  I love Him.
Well, several months later, on May 22, 2009, I was married to the greatest man on earth whom I love dearly, Dustin Speckhals.  We honeymooned in Chicago, one of my favorite places on earth!, and days later moved to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brogue, Pennsylvania to serve the Lord!  I do not begin to understand God’s goodness to me, and I know I do not deserve it, but I thank Him for it, and am thrilled about the future serving HIM!
